Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to join our Leonardo UK Strategy and Technology team as a Strategic Initiatives Manager. In this exciting opportunity, you will work closely with the Leonardo UK Capability and Innovation Director and their team to deliver strategic objectives.

The role is fast-paced and varied, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities, significantly contributing to Leonardo's success in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a trusted network across the company, reaching all levels of seniority, to collate and analyze strategic capability development information.
  • Facilitate meetings chaired by the Director, ensuring agendas contain all necessary items for discussion and actions are recorded and completed.
  • Prepare briefs for engagements, comprising all relevant information, extracting headline items for immediate attention.
  • Produce and/or collate presentations (including speeches) to be delivered by the Director, ensuring tailoring to specific audiences.
  • Support the communications team with speech writing, ensuring content addresses the correct buttons for the audience and suits the delivery style of the Director.
  • Review requests into the Director's office, providing a summary and recommendation for efficiency in response.
  • Manage and amplify communication flow into and out of the Director's office, including how communication has been received across the business.
  • Keep track of all actions set on and by the Director, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the expected standard.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for all Exhibitions and Conferences attended by the Director.
  • Maintain awareness of business activity across the entire company.
  • Maintain awareness of activity across the global defence industry and political environment.
  • Ability to deliver small projects or work packages independently, demonstrating a capability to understand and summarize technical content collated from across the business.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent Communicator (to all levels of seniority and nationalities/cultures).
  • Extremely organized.
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Work well under pressure and with very short timescales.
  • Strategic, proactive problem solver with strong initiative.
  • Team member but also able to work in isolation with limited instruction.
  • Understanding of and commitment to extreme confidentiality.
  • Understanding of business agreements and critical terms.
  • Recent experience working with MOD & UK Government stakeholders on Capability Development.
  • Ability to support the Director's working patterns.
  • Able to maintain DV clearance.
