Mechanical Technician

University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's mechanical systems.
Main DutiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for performing planned and reactive maintenance and repairs across our hospital sites. This will include working with a range of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and building services.
You will possess excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documents. Proven fault-finding skills and a working understanding of technical, regulatory, and industry best practice knowledge of mechanical systems are essential.
A flexible approach to work and a keenness to develop your skillset and knowledge are also required. You will be working as part of a team, and excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary.

Person SpecificationThe successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Time served apprenticeship from a recognized body or equivalent in an Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Services discipline.
- Expert specialist training in electrical/mechanical services, systems, and equipment.
- Vocational qualifications, following training/courses to satisfy the Trust's ever-expanding complex nature of equipment.
Desirable qualifications and experience include membership of registered/professional bodies, such as the IHEEM, IMechE, CISBE, and experience within the building services engineering contracting and maintenance industries.
