Haematology Ward Nurse Leader

As a Band 7 Haematology Nurse, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of experienced and junior nurses in an acute setting at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. This is an exciting time for our trust, with the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital opening soon.
Main Responsibilities- Lead a team of nurses to care for patients in an acute setting.
- Work alongside the band 7 and act as deputy when required to ensure the smooth running of the ward and maintain a safe environment for colleagues and patients.
- Care for admitted Haematology patients, prioritizing their needs and providing individualized support.
- Assess patients pre-chemotherapy, ensuring they are prepared for treatment.
- Administer Safe Administration of Chemotherapy and Supportive Therapies (SACT) safely and effectively.
- Manage neutropenic sepsis and chemotherapy toxicities, making quick decisions to ensure patient safety.
- Develop and maintain acute clinical skills, staying up-to-date with the latest practices and guidelines.
- Prioritize patient care, managing competing demands and deadlines.
- Work a flexible shift pattern, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Lead a team, motivating and supporting staff to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Relevant post-registration experience in a similar role.
- NHS experience, with a strong understanding of the UK healthcare system.
- Working in haematology or oncology, with a deep understanding of these specialties.
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and improving health outcomes. We offer a competitive salary package, including an estimated £52,132 - £62,087 per annum, depending on experience.
