Job Title: BSL Communication Support Worker

Job Summary:

Croydon College is seeking a skilled BSL Communication Support Worker to join its Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. The successful candidate will provide support to hearing-impaired learners with or without an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) or SEN Support Plan across both the Croydon and Coulsdon campuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver support to hearing-impaired learners to overcome barriers and realise their potential.
  • Provide 1:1 and group interventions, as well as therapeutic sessions, to maximise student independence and meet EHCP outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the ALS Manager to create an inclusive and collegiate approach in coordinating support for teaching, learning, and assessment of hearing-impaired students.
  • Liaise closely with parents/carers, college staff, and other stakeholders to provide advice and guidance, implement PEEPs and risk assessments, and provide support in unstructured times.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 qualification and a minimum of Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Level 3 BSL qualification (Signature / CACDP) and practical experience of using BSL or SSE.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
