About the Role:

  • Provide a welcoming and consistent environment in open access areas, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, identifying and engaging with individuals affected by drugs and alcohol who are not accessing mainstream services.
  • Attend team meetings and group supervision to share best practices, collaborate with colleagues, and drive service improvement.
  • Meet with individuals in the community to discuss their personal recovery goals, provide support, and connect them with relevant resources.
  • Utilize existing local resources, build community awareness, and signpost individuals to relevant agencies and services.
  • Collaborate with the Volunteer and Peer Mentor Coordinator to establish and identify specialist advice, support, and recovery opportunities.

About You:

  • Lived experience of drug or alcohol misuse, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with recovery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on empathy, non-judgmental attitudes, and cultural competence.
  • Confident in working with individuals with complex needs, with a strong commitment to person-centered practice.
  • Able to remain calm under pressure, with a strong sense of resilience and adaptability.
  • Willingness to travel, including areas with limited public transportation.
