Education Support Assistant

At Academics Ltd, we are seeking an experienced Cover Supervisor to join our team in the Canterbury area of Kent. This role is perfect for a graduate looking to gain practical experience working with children or someone considering a career in teaching and wants to gain paid experience.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for supervising pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. They will need to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
This role can involve supervising/covering lessons already planned and set for a class, managing pupil behaviour, being flexible and able to provide cover across a range of subjects and key stages, and providing 1:1 support and answering questions about processes and procedures in line with the school policy.
What We're Looking For- Very good numeracy/literacy skills/GCSE grade C/NVQ3 (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Proficient use of technology and understanding of its use in supporting effective teaching and learning
- Ability to work consistently, prioritise and delegate appropriately, to handle pressure and to work to deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively, both orally and in writing, with pupils, parents/carers and staff
- Ability to work in a team, collaboratively with other staff
- Willingness to develop own understanding and capability through advice and training
- Awareness and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expecting all staff to share this commitment
