Job Overview

XL Catlin seeks an experienced professional to lead the Reinsurance Segment Controllership team, driving financial reporting, analytics, and management information across regions.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and be responsible for segment controllership and management reporting of the Reinsurance Segment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the financial reporting process for the Reinsurance Segment, ensuring compliance with corporate and segment timetables, quality, and accuracy of output.
  2. Compile a segment set of financial statements for balance sheet and income statement purposes, providing insights into quarterly changes supported by commentaries from regions.
  3. Ensure adherence to AXA group accounting standards for segment reporting.
  4. Coordinate reserve reconciliations and work with Actuarial and Regional Finance teams to document bridging items between Actuarial and Finance, supplemented by a quarterly memorandum.
  5. Pursue improvements in processes, data quality, and information provision, aiming to enrich data and implement standardization across regions and the segment.
  6. Manage corporate team expectations and key deliverables, ensuring alignment with regional requirements for timely delivery.
  7. Conduct balance sheet analytics and support internal/external audit reviews.
  8. Implement centralized controls to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of financial information and support audit requirements.
  9. Provide leadership to the Segment Finance team, offering opportunities for staff development and growth.
  10. Support business planning and strategic processes as needed, specifically leading technical and operating expenses within ledgers and reporting tools.
  11. Lead Finance Functional Team meetings to develop data enrichment and architecture, representing Finance in the Functional IT Steering Group, and collaborating closely with the CFO/CAO on Finance IT strategic initiatives.
  12. Manage IFRS architecture flow and report financials on an IFRS basis, testing income statement and balance sheet packs, and leading Workstream Calls on a regular basis.
  13. Act as the Reinsurance segment lead for IFRS 17, overseeing movement from IFRS 4 to IFRS 17 ledgers and ensuring understanding of adjustments made due to IFRS 17 requirements.
  14. Develop the accounting team to achieve department goals efficiently and effectively.
