About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Train Preparer to join our team at Colas Rail. As a Train Preparer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight trains on our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare freight trains for service, ensuring they are safe and ready for operation.
  • Facilitate train movements, including coupling and uncoupling wagons and locomotives.
  • Conduct load examinations to railway industry standards.
  • Operate ground frames and hand points as required to facilitate train movements.
  • Assist maintenance and servicing staff with technical examinations of rolling stock.
  • Work various shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Be prepared to lodge away from home when required.
Requirements
  • Experienced train preparer to meet current industry standards.
  • Personal Track Safety certification.
  • Rules and Regulations competence.
  • Freight Train Operations, Loading, and Rolling Stock Examination knowledge.
