About the Role
We're seeking an experienced train preparer to join our team in Doncaster to Newcastle. As a Ground Staff LNE Doncaster to Newcastle, you'll be responsible for preparing freight trains for service, facilitating movements to/from the operational railway, and controlling freight train movements in a defined area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure freight trains and associated wagons are correctly prepared for service.
- Assist train drivers with brake continuity testing.
- Complete train documentation, including train preparation certificates and train certificates of readiness.
- Carry out shunting and train preparation duties, including coupling/uncoupling of wagons and locomotives.
- Operate ground frames and hand points as required to facilitate train movements.
- Undertake technical examinations of rolling stock.
- Assist maintenance/servicing staff with maintenance/servicing activities, as required.
