Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Care Assistant to join our team at Nevilles Court. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our care team to deliver exceptional care to our residents.
You will be responsible for assisting the Nurse in Charge/Manager in ensuring that care staff are carrying out delegated tasks to a high standard. You will also support care assistants in fulfilling their roles and provide feedback on areas of concern or positive interactions and outcomes.

- Assist in meeting the personal needs of residents in a way that respects their dignity and promotes independence.
- Help in the care of residents' physical environment and in general day-to-day activities of the home.
- Assist residents in leading a full life, organizing activities such as handicrafts, games, reading, and outings.
- Assist in recognizing, assessing, and meeting the emotional, physical, medical, and spiritual needs of residents.
- Act as a key worker and encourage residents in taking decisions in matters that affect their lives.
- Be actively involved in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and carry out key worker roles, including handing over information and communicating with outside services.
- Collaborate with families of residents, feeding back information and ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Follow the leadership of the Nurse in Charge of the shift and work in partnership with the Nurse to ensure a high standard of care is being given at all times.
- Administer and record on all relevant documentation, residential medication packages.
- Contribute to the assessment of need of each resident in conjunction with the resident, relevant professional agencies, and where appropriate, the resident's family.
- Assist in developing and carrying out an appropriate Care Plan that provides a satisfactory quality of life for the resident, carrying out that programme and recording any appropriate information relating to same.
- Report to senior staff any action/recommendations that have not been carried out.
- Assist in carrying out risk assessments appertaining to individuals and activities, and ensure that all risk assessment proposals are carried out.
- Assist the Home Manager with supervisions and appraisals of care staff.
- Take responsibility for Health & Safety issues, including reporting any dangers to self and others.
- Assist residents who need help with personal care.
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and assist with the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
- Assist in maintaining good standards of food presentation and hygiene and cleanliness.
- Prepare and serve meals and assist residents where necessary, helping to clear away dishes afterwards.
- Inspect, mend, launder, and iron residents' clothing or supervise them doing same if appropriate.
- Answer the door and telephone and greet visitors in an appropriate manner.
- Assist professionals, such as nurses, physiotherapists, and chiropodists, if necessary.
- Read and write reports, take part in staff and resident meetings, and in training activities as directed, on or off site.
- Read all relevant communications, sign, and carry out instructions.
- Report any changes in residents' condition to the Nurse in Charge/Manager.
- Record incidents to residents, staff, or visitors in the Accident Book or other relevant documentation.
- Record all complaints, comments, etc. appropriately and take proper action where possible, and report the matter immediately to management.
- Care for residents' property and that belonging to the home as directed.
- Care for equipment and report any defects to the Manager.
- Clean up spillages as they occur using appropriate equipment supplied and as specified in the Control of Infection Policy.
We offer a competitive hourly rate of £12.25 and a 40-hour working week. The shift pattern is predominantly nights, covering three shifts one week and four shifts the following week on a rotational basis.
