We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Glaucoma to join our senior clinical team at the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in the diagnosis, management, and follow-up of glaucoma patients in an outpatient setting and virtually. They will also assist in the operating theatre and be involved in complex and specialist glaucoma surgery, SLT, and YAG laser.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ophthalmology and glaucoma, with experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. They will also have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt their language as appropriate to the situation.

The Eye Department in Leeds provides comprehensive secondary and tertiary ophthalmic services for the population, both adult and children, of Leeds and a tertiary ophthalmic service for other areas of Yorkshire. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that provides a wide range of services, including trabeculectomy, tube (Ahmed valve), and MIGS (currently iStent and Preserflo with a plan for Hydrus in the near future).

The successful candidate will be expected to complement existing Specialist Trainees and will also be expected to teach and train junior colleagues. They will be required to have a strong academic background, with evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.

Applicants must have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English and have scores in the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or equivalent equal to those required for recruitment to MMC specialty training programmes.
