The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Legal and Commercial Risk to join our team. This is a newly created role that will play a crucial part in shaping the legal function at Seqera.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contract management: Oversee customer contract negotiations and ensure compliance with local laws.
  • Corporate governance: Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in all jurisdictions, including Spain and the USA.
  • Legal policies and processes: Set up the legal function for success, implementing new policies and processes to cover the company's risks.
  • Employment law: Ensure compliance with local laws for all employment-related matters.
  • Equity management: Manage the company's stock or share option plans, including providing an updated capitalization table and monitoring the company pool.
  • Litigation and Dispute Management: Handle all legal disputes, including product liability claims and contractual disputes.
  • Insurance: Manage contracts with insurance brokers, including E&O and Cyber security insurances.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in law (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in a law firm
  • Agile mindset, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly
  • Experience working in a startup environment
