Job Title: Commercial and Legal Director

As a key member of our Global Office team, you will play a vital role in bringing the Belmond brand to life. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will provide and oversee effective commercial legal support across the global business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage all commercial contracts and legal issues affecting commercial arrangements across the business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including agreements for Sales and Marketing, PR, Sales and IT, and other service supplier contracts.
  • Manage, support, and develop the role of Legal Counsel, Commercial, and any other reports.
  • Manage contract databases and files, including efficient use of electronic signature software.
  • Provide training on and review compliance with Belmond's contract policy, suggesting and preparing updates as needed.
  • Oversee the management of escalated guest service issues and provide crisis comms support.
  • Lead the cost-effective management and defence of Belmond's trademark portfolio and provide support to the web development team on domain name issues.
  • Monitor, assess, and highlight specific legal risks to Belmond in relation to contracts.
Requirements:
  • Experience as an in-house lawyer with a focus on commercial law.
  • Knowledge of data processing addenda and GDPR issues.
  • Leadership and people management skills.
  • Solid project management skills with strong organisation and scheduling abilities.
  • An ability to communicate complex legal principles and procedures to legal and non-legal personnel, offering commercial solutions.
  • An ability to inspire confidence in others of one's expertise, knowledge, and commercial acumen.
