Collection Specialist Job Description

We are a growing nationwide healthcare solutions company seeking a Collection Specialist to join our revenue cycle team. This role involves following up on accounts by contacting third-party payers via website/telephone/mail for payment status, according to schedules of disposition/payer to be worked on given days.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to take direction. They should also be able to learn new software as necessary.

The estimated salary for this role is $45,000 - $60,000 per year.

Requirements:
  • 2-4 years' experience in a medical environment with emphasis on collections, follow-up, and/or billing for third parties.
  • Medicare/DDE experience is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of all appropriate billing forms, including 1500 and UB04.
  • Ability to identify trends within claim denials to quickly resolve multiple claim issues.
  • Ability to take and follow direction.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of collection procedures and governing laws applicable to the position.
  • Ability to learn new software as necessary.
