Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Additive Manufacturing Engineer to specialize in metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) for gas turbine components. As a Design Engineer (f/m/d), you will drive the implementation of AM serial components and provide manufacturing support and qualification at our Worcester factory. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful qualification and series production of AM components.
Main Responsibilities:- Contribute to the decarbonization effort by increasing the efficiency of gas turbine components and developing green fueled combustion technology through the successful implementation of Additive Manufacturing technologies.
- Manage product and process qualifications (PPQ) as well as series production of hot gas components made from advanced materials at the Worcester site.
- Initiate feasibility studies for the implementation of new design features and integrate insights gained from series production and feasibility studies into Design for Manufacturing guidelines.
- Define acceleration measures to meet customer requirements and apply for necessary budgets.
- Reduce non-conformance cost by performing supplier scorecard reviews, technical review meetings, root cause analyses, and implementing measures to improve supplier quality.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on Additive Manufacturing and manufacturing support.
- Strong knowledge of Additive Manufacturing technologies and materials, with expertise in series production and process qualifications (PPQ).
- Experience with CAD software (Siemens NX and nTopology) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD).
- Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and best practices.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards and ability to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and requirements.
- Knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing techniques specific to Additive Manufacturing for gas turbine components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to address design and manufacturing challenges.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently, taking ownership of manufacturing support and qualification activities.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills, with the ability to lead virtual, cross-functional teams.
