About the Role

This position combines the exciting areas of Design, Project Management, and Quality Management. As a Design Engineer specializing in metal Additive Manufacturing (AM), you will be responsible for driving the implementation of AM serial components and providing manufacturing support and qualification at our factory. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful qualification and series production of AM components for gas turbines, with a focus on maintaining quality standards, schedules, and costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the decarbonization effort by increasing the efficiency of gas turbine components and developing green fueled combustion technology through the successful implementation of Additive Manufacturing technologies
  • Be an integral part of an international team responsible for managing product and process qualifications (PPQ) as well as series production of hot gas components made from advanced materials at the Worcester site
  • Actively contribute to the technology roadmap and initiate feasibility studies for the implementation of new design features, integrating insights gained from series production and feasibility studies into Design for Manufacturing guidelines
  • Define appropriate acceleration measures in case of project delays to meet customer requirements, coordinate these measures with affected projects, and apply for the necessary budgets
  • Reduce non-conformance cost by performing regular supplier scorecard reviews, technical review meetings, performing root cause analyses, analyzing 8D reports, and implementing measures to improve supplier quality
  • Lead projects to reduce costs and delivery times at the Worcester site, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing operations

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with a focus on Additive Manufacturing and manufacturing support
  • Strong knowledge of Additive Manufacturing technologies and materials, with expertise in series production and process qualifications (PPQ)
  • Experience with CAD software (Siemens NX and nTopology) and simulation tools (FEA, CFD)
  • Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and best practices
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality standards and the ability to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and requirements
  • Knowledge of materials selection and manufacturing techniques specific to Additive Manufacturing for gas turbine components
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively to address design and manufacturing challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently, taking ownership of manufacturing support and qualification activities
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management skills, with the ability to lead virtual, cross-functional teams
  • Fluent English language skills are required
