About the Role

This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of the current Financial Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of accounts staff, overseeing purchase and sales ledgers, and ensuring compliance with UKGAAP standards.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the management team to ensure the smooth running of the company
  • Manage a team of 2 part-time accounts staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Oversee the operation of purchase and sales ledgers, including credit control
  • Implement and maintain effective accounting procedures and controls
  • Manage monthly payroll using a third-party bureau
  • Produce and submit weekly cash forecasts
  • Prepare and submit monthly accounts packages to Group, adhering to UKGAAP/USGAAP/IFRS standards
  • Present accounts at bi-monthly management meetings, providing analysis and recommendations
  • Liaise with external parties for yearly audit, tax returns, and statutory accounts
  • Collaborate with group accounting and tax functions, providing ad-hoc reports as required
  • Submit VAT returns, payments, and miscellaneous HMRC reporting
  • Play a key role in preparing the yearly budget
  • Manage employee contracts, inductions, and personnel policies
  • Maintain accurate records of employee absence and disciplinary issues
  • Submit monthly reports to group HR, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement
  • Ensure the company complies with all employment regulations
  • Manage and liaise with third-party providers for DC and DB pensions schemes
  • Purchase and maintain company IT equipment, including PCs and printers
  • Provide local IT support for employees, working closely with group IT
  • Manage the company website and online presence
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments and training staff
  • Ensure the company meets all health and safety regulations
  • Present health and safety reports at bi-monthly management meetings
  • Manage reporting to Companies House and maintain company registers
  • Ensure the company meets all legal obligations
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in financial management, preferably within a similar industry or sector
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of UKGAAP/USGAAP/IFRS standards and their application in a business environment
