Science Technician Role

We are seeking an experienced Science Technician to join our team at a secondary school in Derby. The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree or qualification, or sufficient demonstrable experience, and will be able to work safely and effectively in a laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Organising and preparing practical resources for science lessons
  • Assisting with the maintenance of a safe and working laboratory environment
  • Keeping accurate records of laboratory activities and stock levels
  • Assisting in the delivery of educational practical experiments
  • Monitoring and maintaining equipment, reporting any hazards as necessary
  • Monitoring stock levels of chemicals and equipment
  • Keeping the laboratory space hazard-free and tidy
Requirements:
  • Relevant degree or qualification, or sufficient demonstrable experience
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment and understanding of how to safely handle chemicals and equipment
  • Certificates in health and safety, COSHH, First Aid, or similar training to ensure a safe and reactive laboratory environment
  • Minimum of two satisfactory employment references
  • Enhanced DBS certificate
