About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Operations Trainee to join our team at Green Alliance. As an Operations Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting the smooth running of our office and learning from our experienced operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Learn and use systems, processes, and digital tools to manage staff time, recruitment, stakeholder engagement, and finances.
  • Develop skills in minute taking, meeting coordination, and presenting, including preparing your own presentation for the team.
  • Support inclusive recruitment processes and participate in recruitment activities throughout the year.
  • Take the lead on projects related to equity, diversity, and inclusion strategy, with the support of the team.
  • Gain experience in communications by working with the communications team and supporting Green Alliance events.
  • Develop knowledge of charity finances by working with finance colleagues and undertaking basic finance tasks.
  • Support fundraising efforts, including prospect researching and using effective tools for monitoring and maintaining key funder relationships.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to 'get things done.'
  • Diligent and proactive approach, with the ability to use your initiative.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to read and summarize complex information.
  • Collaborative and able to work as part of a team, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and be flexible when plans change.
  • Good IT skills, with confidence using MS Office software platforms such as Word and Excel.
  • Confident in asking for clarification when not clear.
  • Ability to compromise and work in a non-partisan way.
  • At least five GCSEs including English and Maths graded five to nine (A-C).

Green Alliance is a charity and independent think tank committed to achieving a greener future. We play a central role in shaping environmental thinking in the UK and are known for our cross-party influence, the clarity of our insights, and the quality of our reports, briefings, events, and podcasts.

We are a research organization that aims to influence government policy making. Our work involves drawing up strategies for achieving change internally and with other organizations, conducting research for reports and roundtables, and meeting with MPs and civil servants to persuade them to take action.

This is an exciting traineeship opportunity to understand how a leading think tank operates at a granular level, while learning from an experienced operations team. You will learn the fundamentals of keeping an office running smoothly and how the operations team supports a team of around 40 people.
