Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis with a student who presents challenging behaviour in a mainstream class at a Primary School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized academic support to the student, tailored to their individual learning style and pace.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively, promoting positive interactions and emotional regulation.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where the student feels valued, respected, and safe.
  • Monitor and track the student's progress, adjusting teaching strategies and interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on the student's academic and social development, as well as strategies for support at home.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to promote consistency and cohesion in the student's educational experience.

Requirements:

  • Experience building rapport with pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and challenging behaviour on a 1-2-1 basis.
  • A positive, energetic, and patient mindset.
  • Proven experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in a 1-2-1 setting.
  • A strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with diverse student populations.
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each student.
