Theatre Care Specialist Job Overview


York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Theatre Care Specialist to join our team in the Anaesthetic Care Unit at Scarborough Hospital.


We welcome applicants with current NMC registration or HCPC registration as a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.


As a Theatre Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, and working collaboratively with the team to achieve excellent patient outcomes.


Main Responsibilities



  1. Maintain a high standard of patient-focused care in accordance with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  3. Provide assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery.
  5. Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in patient care.
  6. Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
  7. Undertake duties on different wards/departments as required by service demands.
  8. Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.

Person Specification


Essential criteria:



  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Department Practitioner with HCPC registration.
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.

Desirable criteria:



  • Teaching qualification.
  • NVQ assessor.
  • Willingness to train as a mentor.
