Principal Automotive NPI Product Development Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Automotive NPI Product Engineer to join our team at Semtech Corporation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in semiconductor product engineering, with a focus on automotive mixed-signal products.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive and own overall quality and compliance to requirements specification of a product through its lifecycle, from definition to production release.
  • Contribute to the development of automotive product and functional safety processes and workflows.
  • Work with functional teams to deliver functional safety related assessments and analysis.
  • Own understanding of how the material fabrication process issues and variation correlate to both reliability and the distribution and sensitivity of individual performance parameters.
  • Drive and execute on all NPI related activities for manufacturability.
  • Enable decisions on the development or sourcing of technologies required for new products.
  • Work with test engineering to bring up product and test solutions.
  • Capturing and tracking performance against specs through entire lifecycle.
  • Planning and executing on production volume ramps and handover to sustaining team.
  • Drive the resolution of failure analysis, root cause and corrective actions for field returns.
  • Review and optimize coverage, test limits and guard-banding.
  • Perform capability & margin analysis, correlation studies and yield modeling on new products.
  • Co-ordinate manufacturing documentation for production transfer and product maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Ten years' experience working as a semiconductor product engineer, ideally for automotive mixed-signal products.
  • In depth knowledge of related quality standards and systems.
  • Understanding of wafer fabrication processes, including fab controls and monitors.
  • Working knowledge of ATE capabilities and technologies.
