Special Needs Teacher Role

We are seeking an experienced teacher to work with sixth-form pupils aged 16-18, supporting those on the autistic spectrum across our school site and Solihull College.

Responsibilities:
  1. Teaching and Support: Deliver individualised lessons to support academic, social, and life skills development of sixth-form pupils.
  2. Curriculum Planning: Plan and adapt curriculum content to meet unique needs and aspirations of pupils on the autistic spectrum.
  3. Collaborative Working: Work closely with colleagues at the school and Solihull College to ensure a consistent and seamless learning experience.
  4. Student Support: Foster independence and prepare students for adulthood, employment, or further education.
  5. Partnerships: Build strong relationships with families, carers, and external agencies to provide holistic support for each pupil.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience working in SEN settings.
  2. Proven Experience: Teaching pupils on the autistic spectrum, particularly those aged 16-18.
  3. Knowledge and Strategies: Familiarity with autism-specific teaching approaches, including sensory and communication support.
  4. A Compassionate Approach: A patient, proactive, and empathetic approach to supporting young people with diverse needs.
