Job Title: Police Staff Investigator Grade D

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Police Staff Investigator to join our team at Marsh Lane Police Station. As a key member of our investigation team, you will play a vital role in supporting the investigation of Level 2 crime and assisting with the investigation of Level 1 and Level 3 crime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with investigations by obtaining evidence from internal and external sources, including searching and interrogating Force systems, reviewing CCTV, and interviewing victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  • Complete administration tasks related to investigations, including taking statements of evidence from victims and witnesses.
  • Produce accurate prosecution files, including full disclosure of unused material, for delivery in accordance with CPS and court deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with the Victim's Code of Practice, including obtaining Victim Personal Statements and completing MG2 and MG6i forms.
  • Seek and exploit criminal intelligence opportunities to prevent and detect crime, and submit intelligence reports as necessary.
  • Interview suspects to ensure the collation of best evidence for prosecution.
  • Undertake responsibilities related to information management, data quality, information sharing, intelligence, and information security in accordance with Authorised Professional Practice (APP) and Home Office Code of Practice.
Essential Capabilities & Experience:
  • P.I.P level 1 or 2 qualified (or equivalent experience) and either PEACE trained or willing to undertake PEACE training.
  • Thorough knowledge of the law, policy, and procedures to effectively carry out the role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of National File standards to prepare case files.
