About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tribologist to join our team at Muc-Off, a leading supplier of specialist cycling cleaning and maintenance products. As a Tribologist, you will be responsible for defining and delivering value from the field in pursuit of our performance mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tribological testing strategies to improve drive train efficiency, reduce wear, and reduce friction.
  • Collaborate with our NPD team to innovate new lubricants with tribological evidence.
  • Analyze data from performance and wear tests to support and link tribology and drive train efficiency.
  • Condense complex data into concise reports and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Drive adoption of novel tribology test routines through clear and compelling reporting.
  • Develop technical documentation and present to internal stakeholders.
  • Create technical marketing material.
  • Select suitable tribological test methods and adapt ASTM testing standards where possible.
  • Ensure the health and safety and maintenance of our tribology equipment.
Requirements
  • BSc or higher in Material Science & Engineering or a related subject.
  • Experience in tribological testing of lubricants, including fluids, greases, and waxes.
  • Design and refurbishment management of test tokens used in tribology testing.
  • Experience in novel tribology test routines and data management techniques.
  • Strong written and excel skills, with experience in statistical analysis a benefit.
  • Experience with wear measurement and material surface analysis using white light interferometry (WLI).
  • Lubricant formulation experience to advise formulators on observed wear and performance from testing.
