We are seeking a dedicated Senior Domestic Violence Advisor to join our team at Vetro Recruitment. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals affected by domestic violence.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to staff, completing file audits, and conducting case reviews to ensure high-quality work. You will also be expected to develop and deliver training internally and externally, as well as advocate for service users with agencies to address domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Predominantly working in the adult team, providing advice and guidance to staff as needed
  • Completing file audits to ensure best practices and high-quality work
  • Conducting case reviews with staff to provide coaching, encourage reflective practice, and feedback to the team manager
  • Managing complex and diverse caseloads
  • Providing specialist advice and guidance to external agencies in line with company policy and relevant legislation
  • Developing and delivering training internally and externally
  • Ensuring risk is identified and safety and support plans reflect the needs and wishes of the individuals accessing the support
  • Prioritizing cases and providing proactive, short to medium-term crisis intervention service through individual safety, support, and recovery planning
  • Advocating for service users with agencies who can help to address domestic abuse
  • Understanding the role of all relevant statutory and non-statutory services available to domestic abuse victims and how your role fits into them
  • Providing advocacy, emotional, and practical support and information in relation to legal options, education, housing, health, finance, education, support services, and adult services, children's services, and health visitors
  • Working directly with all key agency partners to address the safety of high-risk victims and ensuring that their safety plans are coordinated, particularly the MASH and MARAC
  • Managing a caseload ensuring each client receives the trauma-informed, needs-led, risk-assessed service individual to their needs
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contributing to monitoring and reporting information for the service
  • Complying with GDPR/data protection legislation, confidentiality, and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work
  • Supporting colleagues and partner agencies through awareness-raising and institutional advocacy in order to provide the best possible service for service users
  • Respecting and valuing the diversity of the community in which the services work and recognizing the needs of a diverse range of clients ensuring the service is accessible to all
  • Remaining up to date and compliant with all organisational procedures, policies, and professional codes of conduct
Requirements
  • Holding a SafeLives IDVA training certificate, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience, or a vocational qualification
  • Having a driving license and access to a vehicle
  • Having an understanding of domestic violence and abuse, including the impact on victims and their children
  • Understanding child protection issues and how to effectively safeguard
  • Experience in engaging with external agencies
  • Having strong crisis management skills
  • Excellent IT and communication skills
  • Ability to provide practical and emotional support
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team
