Child Protection and Safeguarding Specialist Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our team as a Child Protection and Safeguarding Specialist. This role involves providing expert guidance and support to team members on complex cases and high-risk situations, while also contributing to the development and implementation of policy and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding.

About the Role

This position requires a highly skilled professional with a strong background in child protection and safeguarding. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. In addition to their technical skills, they should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, service users, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including service users, families, and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policy and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to share knowledge, expertise, and best practices.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE) and current membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working in child protection and safeguarding, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, service users, and external partners.
Salary and Benefits
