Job Title: Support Worker

Job Summary:

The Rowan Organisation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting a teenage boy with autism, epilepsy, ASD, and SPD in his daily life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to the individual, engaging in activities he enjoys, such as watching trains, buses, and visiting the zoo.
  • Ensure constant supervision and support with all safety aspects.
  • Assist with medication administration, including emergency medication.
  • Support the individual with personal care, including changing him if he experiences a seizure.
  • Encourage and motivate the individual to participate in activities and develop independence.
  • Build a supportive relationship with the individual, understanding his needs and preferences.

Requirements:

  • Patience and a supportive attitude.
  • Willingness to undergo training highlighted by the employer.
  • Understanding of the individual's needs and requirements.
  • Desirable to have a driving license.
  • Bubbly and outgoing personality.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Ability to work independently and be aware of risks.
  • Desirable to have training in manual handling, medication administration, and awareness of autism and epilepsy.

Special Conditions:

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing employment. The post carries a 3-month probationary period.
