Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Safeguarding and Family Support Service at Slough Borough Council. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a critical role in responding to urgent child protection referrals and working with families to ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to urgent child protection referrals and conduct assessments to determine the level of risk to children and young people.
  • Develop and implement plans to safeguard children and young people, including providing support to families and working with other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Work with children and young people who have been sexually abused or who use sexually abusive behavior, and provide support to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including social workers, police officers, and healthcare professionals, to ensure a coordinated approach to child protection.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior social workers and other staff members, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve child protection practices.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with a professional social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • At least four years' experience in children's social services, including direct management experience and a proven track record of successful leadership and service improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services to children and families.
