Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Service to join our team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the operational management of our Trust-wide Occupational Therapy service, working closely with the Occupational Therapy Head of Service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the operational management of the Occupational Therapy service, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective service delivery.
  • Collaborating with the Occupational Therapy Head of Service to develop and implement service strategies, improving patient outcomes and service efficiency.
  • Managing a team of Occupational Therapists, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure excellent patient care and service delivery.
  • Developing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patients, and carers, to ensure seamless service delivery and patient-centered care.
  • Ensuring compliance with clinical governance frameworks, monitoring and improving quality of patient care, and participating in research, audit, and service evaluation projects.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience at Band 7 level, with highly-specialist experience within a clinical field.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with proven experience of managing a team and developing staff.
  • Strong clinical governance knowledge, with experience of monitoring and improving quality of patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders.
  • Intermediate IT skills, with the ability to use clinical systems and software.
