About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Practitioner to join our team as a Duty Mental Health Practitioner. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing timely support and assistance to clients who are struggling with their mental health and experiencing emotional distress.


Main Responsibilities



  • To provide emotional support to clients, offering a compassionate and non-judgmental presence, listening to their concerns, and providing reassurance
  • To conduct brief assessments to understand the client's current mental health status, risks, and determine appropriate interventions
  • To offer ongoing support, connecting clients with additional resources, services, or support groups for ongoing care and assistance
  • To provide psychoeducation, offering clients information and resources to help them better understand their mental health issues and develop coping strategies
  • To engage in collaborative problem-solving, supporting and encouraging clients to identify challenges and develop effective coping strategies and plans to address their needs and goals
  • To conduct home visits, as necessary, prior to referring to the Crisis and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need to have a professional qualification in mental health nursing, social work, or occupational therapy, as well as demonstrable post-basic experience in mental health. You will also need to have a sound knowledge base and excellent communication skills.
