Job Overview

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Safety & Environmental team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety strategies to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Conduct thorough safety analyses and produce Design Safety Justification reports
  • Lead and manage a team of safety practitioners to achieve safety objectives

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science)
  • Proven experience in safety engineering activities in the defence, maritime, or a relevant highly regulated domain
  • Strong knowledge of industry safety standards (Def Stan, IEC 61508, etc.)

Desirable:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
