Job Overview

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Safety & Environmental team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on product safety matters and ensuring the safety considerations are correctly implemented.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance on safety engineering activities, including the development of safety arguments and safety management documentation.
  • Engage with third-party stakeholders to review and gather supporting Design Safety Justification (DSJ) report evidence.
  • Line manage a team of safety practitioners and provide leadership in safety engineering activities.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science).
  • Broad knowledge of industry safety standards, including Def Stan and IEC 61508.
  • Demonstrable experience in safety engineering activities in the defence, maritime, or a relevant highly regulated domain.

Desirable:

  • Good communication skills and ability to interact and manage stakeholders.
