Job Title: Head of Public Affairs

Join The Royal Society as we seek a highly skilled and experienced Head of Public Affairs to lead our public affairs strategy and influence policy decisions.

About the Role

The Head of Public Affairs will play a vital role in shaping the Society's public affairs strategy and influencing policy decisions that impact our mission to promote excellence in science for the benefit of humanity.

As a key member of our senior team, you will work closely with our Fellows, policy teams, and external stakeholders to develop and implement effective public affairs strategies that maximize the impact of our work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement public affairs strategies to influence policy decisions and promote the Society's interests.
  • Work closely with our policy teams to develop influencing plans and advise on key policy issues.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including politicians, policymakers, and industry leaders.
  • Lead the development of communications and events to raise the profile of the Society's policy work.
  • Oversee the monitoring of parliamentary business and anticipate political and public interest in policy areas where science plays a significant role.
Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with a strong understanding of science policy and public affairs. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

You will also have a proven track record of influencing policy decisions and developing effective public affairs strategies.
