About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Fox's Burton's Companies. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for championing safety, health, and environmental management across our sites in Edinburgh, Livingston, and Arran.

Your primary focus will be on developing and implementing effective safety and environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and promoting a positive safety culture among our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain our safety standards across sites, working closely with group functions
  • Conduct regular audits and plant inspections to identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure adequate budget is allocated and spent on health and safety requirements
  • Act as the business expert in Scotland on all health and safety matters, monitoring employer liability claims and engaging with enforcement bodies and response services
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a management or head of SHE role within food manufacturing, working with senior functional leaders
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety law and a track record of implementation and maintenance
  • Expert knowledge of best practice and industry standards, with a clear understanding of how to tap into industry-wide best practice
  • Good knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices, with the ability to adopt and implement
  • Understanding of local government departments and the ability to proactively engage with key stakeholders
  • NEBOSH and health and safety qualifications
  • Agile thinking and behaviors, with flexibility to attend SHE meetings across sites
  • Previous people management experience, including individual development
