Fire Safety Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Safety Consultant to join our UK team at Arup, a global professional services firm. As a Fire Safety Consultant, you will play a vital role in promoting the growth of our Fire Business and delivering fire safety engineering services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct fire safety assessments and provide expert advice to clients on fire safety strategies and solutions.
- Develop and implement fire safety plans and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver fire safety engineering services to clients.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest fire safety research, technologies, and industry developments to ensure the delivery of innovative and effective fire safety solutions.
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer with a relevant institution such as the Institution of Fire Engineers or be close to gaining Chartered Engineer status.
- Qualification in a relevant subject (fire engineering, other types of engineering, or architecture related).
- Significant background in a fire engineering consultancy or similar environment.
- Deep knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance used in the UK, and appreciation of the new regulatory regime as well as associated standards and industry guidance across a range of sectors.
- Competency in directing client and stakeholder meetings, and ability to explain technically complicated fire safety matters to lay persons to enable informed course of action.
- Familiarity with RIBA Plan of Work or other design frameworks (e.g. GRIP / PACE).
- Background in delivering evidence-based fire safety solutions for UK based projects, in a range of different sectors.
- Awareness of appropriate legislation and design guidance for use in the UK.
- Experience in delivering fire strategies and developing fire engineered solutions.
- Understand the fire engineering challenges relevant to different design stages from the client brief through to construction and operation.
