The Met Office is seeking an experienced Scientific Software Engineer to join its Ocean Forecast Verification team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and supporting tools to assess and monitor the quality and accuracy of our ocean forecasts, and integrating these forecasts within coupled atmosphere-ocean systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in scientific programming languages, such as Python, Linux, or Bash, and experience in Quality Assurance processes, best practice, and/or software coding standards. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with others to understand their requirements and contribute to the development of plans to meet these requirements.

In return, the Met Office offers a competitive salary of up to £46,974 per annum, including a base pay of £33,794, a Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA) of £2,200, and a Civil Service pension with an average employer contribution of 27%. You will also have the opportunity to work with a talented team of experts in the field of ocean forecasting and to make a real difference in our understanding of the world's oceans.
