Job Title: Head of Singing and Director of Music

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Singing and Director of Music to join our team at Oundle School. As a key member of our music department, you will be responsible for developing and inspiring our pupils through singing, and contributing to the life of the School as a whole.

About the Role

Oundle School is a leading co-educational boarding and day school with a strong reputation for academic excellence and outstanding pastoral care. Our music department is renowned for its quality teaching and is one of the largest and most respected in the country.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding choir-trainer with experience of training voices to the highest standards. You will be responsible for overseeing singing throughout the school, creating new opportunities for all pupils wishing to sing, running three of the five choirs, leading musicals, and teaching an allocated number of pupils.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and inspire pupils through singing
  • Oversee singing throughout the school
  • Create new opportunities for pupils wishing to sing
  • Run three of the five choirs

  • Advise the Director of Music on specialist issues and developments
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Performance Diploma or Music degree and display evidence of continuing professional development. Specialism in the field of choral singing is essential, and you must have previous teaching experience of 1:1 and larger choirs of all ages and standards.

All members of the academic staff contribute to the School's extensive co-curricular provision and are expected to fully participate in the boarding school life that encompasses some evening and weekend duties.
