About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Engagement Lead to join our team at UK Research and Innovation. As a key member of our Insight and Engagement directorate, you will play a critical role in building and sustaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the higher education sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a strategic engagement programme to foster positive and trust-based relationships with senior stakeholders in universities
  • Establish and maintain a deep understanding of the higher education sector, including its trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior stakeholders on research and innovation policy and strategy
  • Convene groups of sector leaders to share knowledge and best practices
  • Represent UK Research and Innovation at external events and conferences
  • Develop and deliver presentations and briefings on rapidly evolving sector issues
  • Produce high-quality briefings and reports for senior officials, crystallising and highlighting issues of importance
Requirements
  • Extensive experience of building and sustaining successful relationships with senior external stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the higher education sector, including its trends, challenges, and opportunities
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations and take the initiative to originate action
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distil complex information into actionable insights
