About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Medicines Optimisation Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to work with us at NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and make a real difference in the lives of our patients. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the medical care of our population, working to remove inequality of access and outcomes, and reducing morbidity experienced by those with health conditions.

Main Duties
Your primary responsibilities will include assisting us with cost saving and quality workstreams by making agreed changes to patients' medicines, providing practices and PCN teams with timely and accurate prescribing performance data, and supporting them to manage their prescribing budgets while adhering to local guidelines and formularies. You will also have knowledge and understanding of the ICB Quality, Innovation, Productivity, Prevention (QIPP) plan and support its implementation at practice level. Additionally, you will assist in information sharing relating to medicines, including national and local prescribing policies, prescribing committee decisions, and medicines safety issues. Furthermore, you will participate in research to ensure pharmacy services, medicines optimisation, and clinical research involving medicines are provided, developed, and undertaken in accordance with relevant governing frameworks and ethical and quality standards.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a BTEC or NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent with checking accreditation or additional specialist training with knowledge of medicine optimisation to a degree level or equivalent. Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council and up-to-date clinical knowledge of drugs and procedures are also essential. You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team, attend meetings, and communicate complex information to colleagues and stakeholders. Experience in medicines optimisation and report writing is desirable.
