Job Title: Sports Instructor (SEMH Specialist)

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Sports Instructor to join our team in a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) setting based in Wakefield. The school caters to young people aged 11-16 who have significant SEMH needs and may have been excluded from mainstream education. We are looking for an individual who can lead sports activities and help students develop their physical and social skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sports activities to young people, ideally within an SEMH or similar setting.
  • Develop and implement sports programs that promote physical and social skills.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Manage challenging behaviour and support students with complex needs.
  • Contribute to the development of a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience delivering sports activities to young people, ideally within an SEMH or similar setting.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of physical activity in supporting mental and emotional well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm and resilient approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in sports coaching, physical education, or a related field are desirable.
