Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Location: West Sussex

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our talented engineering team at Innovate Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and constructing innovative systems.

  • Design and Development: Utilize your creative design abilities to develop precision machinery and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical lead for a small, multidisciplinary project design team, producing high-quality design solutions that meet schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Design Software: Oversee the development of designs in SolidWorks software, utilizing 3D CAD to create accurate and detailed designs.
  • Analysis and Testing: Use conventional analysis and computer simulation to lead and collaborate with the team in performing classical engineering analysis on designs, including stress, fatigue, and vibration.
  • Quality Assurance: Carry out laboratory testing to confirm that design outputs match design inputs.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Take charge of organizing and creating engineering reports to support failure analysis, new product designs, and other official paperwork needed to meet client requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work together with larger engineering groups to include drive, control, and electrical systems into equipment designs.
  • Support and Assistance: Offer assistance to the field engineering, test, and production engineering teams.
  • Project Management and Sales Support: Assist project management and sales teams in providing design activity time estimates and monitoring advancement.
  • Sales and Marketing Support: Help and support the sales team in creating quotes, proposals, and other sales collateral.
  • Manufacturing and Fabrication: Recognize how to apply procedures for casting, fabrication, moulding, and machining.
  • CAD Skills: Possess familiarity with a 3D CAD program, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Leadership and Management: Capacity to oversee workload and design output while leading a project design team's technical efforts.
  • Industry Experience: Experience of working in the Defence or related sectors, particularly in R&D and manufacturing, such as scientific equipment manufacturers, special purpose machine builders, or high-end customisation companies.
