Job Summary

The King's College London is seeking a highly skilled Field Tech Analyst to join our team in the Drug Control Centre (DCC). The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing biological samples in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code's International Standard for Laboratories and World Anti-Doping Agency and ISO 17025 accreditations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide recognised analytical skills in a range of analytical services predominantly using GC-MS, where the primary focus will be on operating a routine analytical service, supporting the UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) contract.
  • Be responsive to changing priorities and an evolving laboratory environment, maximising the efficiency of the analytical support being provided.
  • Foster a stimulating, innovative and inclusive cultural environment across the DCC laboratories enabling analytical colleagues to thrive and develop, ensuring that processes and policies are visible, accessible and transparent.
  • Work within the GC-technologies team and be assigned tasks by the Lead Analyst and is expected to be flexible in anticipating and responding to shifting and competing demands on their and the wider team's time.

Requirements
  • Degree level experience or equivalent experience developed through considerable knowledge and skills gained through work experience in a similar post.
  • A good understanding of a quality assurance framework as it applies to an analytical laboratory.
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office packages.
  • Strong communication skills – orally and in writing.
  • Strong planning & organisational skills – a systematic and precise approach, managing competing priorities, accurately recording information.
  • A commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Experience of relevant modern anti-doping laboratory analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience of working in an accredited laboratory.

Working Arrangements
  • This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About the Drug Control Centre
  • The DCC is the only World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in the UK and played a key role in the London 2012 Olympics, Glasgow 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2021 Rugby League World Cup sports testing programmes.
  • The DCC is also accredited by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) as a testing laboratory, in accordance with ISO 17025.
