Maintenance Planning Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rebuild Repair Engineer to join our team at Finning International Inc. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for carrying out reconditioning and maintenance on Caterpillar products, including 2nd life overhauls to products within the Construction Equipment product group.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake detailed inspections of machines to confirm or expand on initial field inspection reports, enabling commercial assessments of repair, replacement, or refurbishment work.
- Carry out standard diagnosis tests on machine components to facilitate accurate cost evaluations or issue condition and warranty agreements to customers.
- Produce comprehensive lists of parts and materials required for proposed machine preparation work.
- Undertake overhaul, repair, or refurbishment work on machines to agreed work plans, removing and dispatching components for specialist attention, re-installing original or replacement parts, or repairing original parts.
- Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they operate to expected performance levels.
- Flexibility, organisational, and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, work accuracy/numeracy, and quality-oriented.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the business.
- Motivated and dynamic self-starter.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
- Effective problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
- A committed and positive attitude, with an obvious customer focus and the ability to build a positive rapport with customers.
- Background in plant machinery or similar industries (e.g., HGV/agriculture).
- Either apprentice-trained or minimum 5 years' experience in a quality service environment within a similar industry.
- Licence to drive reach trucks.
- Practical experience in operating construction equipment in confined spaces and mechanical fitting work on large-scale machines.
