Imperial College London is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our Academic Partnerships Division as Head of Business Development for Societal Engagement. This exciting role will focus on identifying and securing new funding and business opportunities to support the delivery of our societal engagement strategy.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering impactful results through a range of income generation opportunities, with excellent networking and relationship building skills. They will be responsible for developing strategically focused income generating initiatives, developing fruitful relationships with corporate, philanthropic, and related sectors, and identifying and targeting local, national, and international funding opportunities.

We are looking for a strategic and proactive individual who can deliver on proposal development for strategic, complex bids and large-scale awards, collaborate effectively with Imperial's Advancement Division, Corporate Partnerships Team, and other key departments, and enable the upskilling in proposal writing and fundraising across Academic Partnerships.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to spearhead the next steps in societal engagement at Imperial, working closely with our team of public engagement and outreach professionals who have collectively delivered significant impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a strategic plan for business development and fundraising
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including corporate partners, philanthropic organizations, and government agencies
  • Identifying and securing new funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships
  • Developing and submitting proposals for funding opportunities
  • Collaborating with Imperial's Advancement Division, Corporate Partnerships Team, and other key departments to ensure a cohesive approach
  • Enabling the upskilling in proposal writing and fundraising across Academic Partnerships
