Research Technician in Respiratory Virus and Vaccine Immunology

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to join our multi-disciplinary team working on a programme investigating human mucosal immunity following respiratory virus infection.

You will be part of a dynamic group of clinical fellows, research nurses, and scientists led by Prof Chris Chiu in the Department of Infectious Disease, Imperial College London. Our team uses innovative experimental medicine models to identify mechanisms and correlates of protection against respiratory viruses, including influenza, RSV, and coronaviruses.

As a Research Technician, you will provide support in our projects, processing clinical samples, running immune assays, and analysing data. You will work closely with post-doctoral scientists to develop your expertise and career development.

We are looking for a graduate scientist with an MSc in Immunology or a relevant subject, and relevant laboratory-based experience in immunology and virology. You should have excellent organisational skills, a methodical approach, and close attention to detail.

Key responsibilities:

  • Processing of blood and other clinical samples
  • Serology including ELISA, haemagglutination inhibition, and neutralisation assays
  • ELISpot
  • Multi-colour flow cytometry
  • Virus and cell culture
