Job Overview:

Komatsu Australia is seeking a highly skilled Component Optimisation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for optimising component production through reusability, alternate sourcing, and collaboration with production and reman engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage engineering communications and technical changes for components between Planning, Customer Support, and Engineering.
  • Develop short-term solutions when production is unable to confirm a date within the PRD lockout period and assess alternate strategies/local procurement/design requests.
  • Develop long-term solutions to identify bottlenecks in the core cycle and provide recommendations for cycle time optimisation.
  • Drive outcomes on strategic projects and provide technical expertise to the team.
  • Analyse and recommend technical changes to components to reduce inventory and increase flexibility.
  • Drive cost price alignment with competitive Life Cycle Cost (LCC) by analysing Bill of Materials (BOM) and determining ideal changeout frequencies.
  • Manage and maintain reports and KPIs to measure, analyse, and report on component optimisation efforts.

Requirements:

  • Relevant engineering tertiary qualification with at least 3 years of experience in a similar industry/application.
  • Advanced technical knowledge and familiarity with engineering standards, documents, and drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Sound knowledge of parts, sales, planning, and operations business methodologies.
