About the Role:

This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires a passion for working with individuals who have experienced homelessness. As a Housing Support Worker, you will work with clients on a one-to-one basis, providing intensive support to help them achieve their goals and eventually achieve independent living.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work with clients to identify their needs and develop a support plan that is achievable and realistic for them.
  • Establish relationships with outreach workers and other service providers to build trust and rapport with clients who are homeless.
  • Support clients to access essential services and engage in activities that promote their physical and mental well-being.
  • Assist clients in accessing benefits and securing stable housing, and provide support to manage and safely address substance misuse.
  • Encourage clients to focus on their strengths and talents, and support them in making positive lifestyle changes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, adhering to confidentiality and data protection protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and all relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and software, including keyboard skills.
  • A polite, assertive, and self-motivated approach, with a passion for working in a client-facing role.
  • Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation, as well as an understanding of homelessness and related issues.
  • Experience working with voluntary and statutory agencies, and knowledge of best practice in supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
