Veterinary Rotating Internship in Edinburgh

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh is seeking four enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Small Animal Rotating Interns.
This one-year internship offers an excellent opportunity for those considering further clinical training or wishing to expand their skillset and return to private clinical practice. The position is based within the Hospital for Small Animals at Easter Bush Campus, Midlothian.
As a member of our team, you will rotate through the referral services within our Hospital for Small Animals, contributing to the out-of-hours service which includes support for patients in the ICU and primary care of our general practice and exotics clinic patients. You will have the opportunity to participate in elective rotations, gaining further clinical or research experience within the veterinary school or undertaking externships elsewhere.
We offer a comprehensive range of referral services, including Anaesthesia, Behaviour, Cardiology, Clinical Pathology, Dermatology, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency & Critical Care, Exotics, Neurology, Oncology (medical and radiotherapy), Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Pathology, and Soft Tissue Surgery. Each intern will be paired with a mentor in their speciality of interest, providing guidance on career progression and the opportunity to pursue a research project throughout the year.
We also boast a thriving programme of continuing education within the hospital, featuring dedicated weekly seminars for interns, as well as practical sessions, journal clubs, board review sessions, specialty rounds, and book clubs. This internship provides the ideal platform for developing your skills, expanding your knowledge, and advancing your career in veterinary medicine.
During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to enrol in the Higher Education Academy, achieving a teaching qualification. Additionally, you will receive RECOVER training and certification, as well as Fear Free Certification. We offer a competitive salary of £32,982 per annum, making this an attractive option for those looking to kickstart their careers in veterinary medicine.
