About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Ecological Advisor to lead our ecological team in delivering high-quality projects that protect and benefit nature and wildlife.

As a key member of our team, you will provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of ecology, ensuring that our clients' projects meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead and inspire a team of ecologists to deliver high-quality work that meets our standards and client expectations.
  • To drive business growth by fostering excellent client relations, securing new contracts, and expanding our client base.
  • To provide high-level oversight on a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • To ensure all projects comply with current legislation and best practice guidelines, upholding our reputation through rigorous quality control.
  • To identify new work streams and commercial opportunities to help nature's recovery, including supporting the development of a new integrated advisory offer for Norfolk Wildlife Trust.
Requirements

We are looking for someone with a degree in ecology or its equivalent and membership of CIEEM. In addition, you will hold relevant protected species licenses (levels 1 and 2 for bats) and be eligible as the Named Ecologist on mitigation licenses within the past three years.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience of habitat and protected species surveys and writing habitat management plans.
  • Knowledge and experience of Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA), Preliminary Ecological Assessment (PEA), BNG assessments along with experience of working with the planning and development of infrastructure, construction, and green infrastructure projects.
  • Sound knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy.
  • Experience of leading, managing, motivating, and monitoring the performance of individuals and teams.
  • A valid UK driving license and access to own transport with business insurance use.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of £42,588 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including a contributory pension scheme, life assurance, and generous annual leave entitlement.
